ONE WORD

What Cops Know

I know I've been slacking on posts lately, but then there are days when so much good stuff comes through I just can't stand it. Today was one of those days. I usually pick out some interesting parts of each book to lure you in, but not this time. Every page is filled with interesting police tidbits. I know this blog is read by a lot of youngsters, so you are just going to have to come in and check it out yourself. Don't let the cops catch you on the way in.

New Year, New You

It's a new year, why not make a new you. This is one of my favorite, self motivational books. As is the most common new year's resolution, I too am trying to lose weight this year. So I will end on this self note.
"I am never, at any time, tempted to take one bite more than I should. I am strong, I am capable of reaching my goal, and I am doing it!"
Make a resolution to check more books our this year, starting with this one, at the Barrett Memorial Library today.

Children Make Terrible Pets

This is one cute story. I prefer children's book's that have a moral lesson of some sort. I think the world is too full of garbage to not sneak in the lessons, when we can. In this story the boy wonders into the woods and is taken in by a bear. He plays, and eats, and even naps with the bear. Until..."it wasn't all fun and games. He was impossible to potty train. He ruined the furniture...and just when Lucy thought things couldn't get any worse...Squeaker dissappeared."

This valuable lesson of not abducting children, or taking stray animals as hostages is really an important lesson. It is vital for the creatures of our world to not be held against their will. In fact, I'm going to go let my fireflies fly free.

Learn more about what makes bad pets, and if there is such a thing as a good pet, today at the Barrett Memorial Library.

Adrift

I don't watch a lot of television, but when I do "I Shouldn't Be Alive" is one of my favorite shows. I very clearly remember the episode about a man who was adrift at sea for a whopping 76 days. No ordinary man would have been able to survive, but Callahan's resourcefulness surely saved him. He cought fish and birds, and used solar stills for water, and was barely alive when he was found. The top picture is the raft. Pick it up at the next book sale, and read all about the amazing story. The first weekend in February, at the Barrett Memorial Library.
